- OK I now have gone thru the ringer on this one and have found out thanks
- to some knowledgeable folks that ENVOY can only network AMIGAS together.
-
- I am now using AmiTCP/IP 4.2 and can FTP, telnet from to AMIGA/PC win95
- burning question now is how do I get the PC or the AMIGA to actually see
- each other as a computer name so I can map the drives on each computer
- for use.. FTP and telnet only goes so far, not really filesharing at best.
-
- I assume I need a proper client on each computer....Is there a NETWARE or
- other standard client for the AMIGA? I ask because WIN95 has support for
- NETWARE and Windows etc. but on the Amiga side I only have AmiTCP/IP
- which is just TCP/IP (only IP's for ftp etc.) I tried to mount a drive on the PC
- to the AMIGA but failed horribly. The AMIGA and PC see each other as ethernet
- devices. (can ping each IP and FTP telnet to each) but cannot see shared
- resources between them. If there was an IPX/SPX protocol available for the
- AMIGA this would extremely simplify things as you would just need a computer
- name and a group to belong to for this.
-
- Any thoughts out there?

- P.S. The PC is hooked up to the Internet thru an ISDN connection that of course
- is set under Win95's dialup ppp/tcp/ip to my static IP address and I have a
- 3COM EtherlinkIII card in the PC that communicates with the ARIADNE card on the
- AMIGA. Still trying to figure out a gateway setup for the AMIGA to use the
- INET connection the PC has...I can FTP thru the ethernet to an FTP server I'm
- running on the PC from the AMIGA but any FTP or TELNET outside of this is ignored
- even though I have the gateway on the PC's ethernet TCP/IP set to the static IP
- of my ISDN connection.....Oh well definately a learning experience in TCP/IP and
- Gateways........now if only I could setup a local nameserver for the PC to tell the Amiga
- where to send it's NET packets.
